In our U.S. locations, we operate on a hybrid work model with three in-office days and two remote days per week. Starting Q1 2025, we will transition to a four-day in-office schedule, Monday–Thursday. Opportunity at a Glance
The Manager of Academic Research develops, implements, and evaluates academic research and program evaluation projects at the national level. The position develops and submits grant proposals for external funding, employs advanced statistical and predictive models in data analyses and reporting, consults with faculty on research methodology and statistics topics, and publishes manuscripts disseminating key study findings to support the University's research vision and strategic initiatives. Under the supervision of the Chief Research Officer, Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research, the Academic Researcher works collaboratively with Chamberlain University leaders and faculty to ensure accomplishment of research and program evaluation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Conducts in-depth academic research on emerging trends and best practices in higher education that will inform University strategic planning and support program evaluation efforts.
- Leads development and implementation of national-level academic research and program evaluation studies in collaboration with senior leadership and translate statistical results into actionable insights.
- Conducts literature reviews and critical analyses of prior research to develop and support academic research inquiries.
- Develops and submits academic research proposals to secure external funding support for studies.
- Employs advanced statistical techniques in the analyses of large, complex datasets, transforms analyses into insights, and makes recommendations based on key findings.
- Develops compelling data visualizations and reports to communicate complex results to various University audiences.
- Builds research partnerships with healthcare providers, professional organizations, and other academic entities.
- Develops and tests innovative new assessment/evaluation tools and strategies to best measure student outcomes.
- Serves as an expert to enhance faculty’s development in research methods.
- Leads and mentors research analysts as assigned in areas including research methodologies, data analysis methods, report development, and writing for publication.
- Establishes and maintains a mechanism for sharing of best practices for assessment and continuous improvement throughout the University.
- Participates in the development of innovative strategies to enhance continuous institutional evaluation that reflects trends in higher education.
- Serves on Chamberlain/Adtalem committees and groups as applicable.
- Performs other duties as assigned

- PhD Required
- 5+ years experience in conducting and leading research as a primary or co-investigator in higher education research Required and
- 7+ years Securing external grant funding as primary or co-investigator Required and
- 7+ years Experience with survey design, administration, analyses, and reporting via web-enabled survey software (Qualtrics) Required and
- 7+ years Experience with analysis of large datasets using analytics software (SPSS) Required and
- 7+ years Experience in publishing in scholarly journals/experience publishing as primary or co-investigator in peer reviewed journals Required and
- 7+ years Academic research experience Preferred and
- 7+ years Experience with nursing research and program evaluation methods Preferred and
- 7+ years Knowledge of developing custom applications and code in Excel and SQL Preferred and
- 7+ years Experience with reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and advanced Excel functions Preferred
- Expertise in academic research processes, including proposal development, data collection, advanced statistical analyses, report writing, and development of presentations
- Ability to present complex data analyses and study findings in easy to comprehend manner for a variety of key stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with a foundation in statistical techniques (e.g., ANOVA, regression, multivariate analyses, predictive modeling)
- Demonstrates skills as a problem solver and thought leader with the ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Excellent project management skills, demonstrating the ability to consistently deliver projects of high quality and excellent attention to detail
- Possesses effective and consistent interpersonal, organizational, collaboration, conflict resolution, management, and organizational skills
- Demonstrates ability to handle multiple projects in a highly productive environment and meet specific deadlines
- Outstanding ability to work independently
- Expertise in Microsoft Office products
- Possesses the ability to effectively and consistently lead and motivate staff as assigned
- Proven project management and people development skills
- Superior written and verbal communication skills including influencing and consensus building
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.00 and $127,957.00. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
